What is a Registered Dietitian?
A registered dietitian is a person who has completed a bachelor's of science or Master's degree in nutrition and has completed a dietetic internship through a well esablished institution.
All dietitians must pass a board examination in order to receive the credentials RD (registered dietitian). Continuing education classes are required on a regular basis to maintain registration status.
An RD is different from a nutritionist in that nutritionists do not have to complete a dietetic internship and pass the board examination.
